Refurbished Facility
Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited in collaboration with the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago and Petrotrin recently completed the refurbishment of the New Life Ministries Drug Rehabilitation Centre (NLM) at Mount St. Benedict. The project coordinated by Christine Sahadeo and funded by the three energy companies was completed within 8 months under budget. In keeping with the companies’ safety focus the project had a zero Lost Time Incident (LTI) rate.

The companies dedicated the refurbished facility to former NGC and PPGPL Chairman and former CEO and Managing Director of PETROTRIN, C. Keith Awong. A Chemical Engineer by profession, Mr. Awong’s involvement in the energy sector spans 40 years. He was awarded the Chaconia Gold in 2005 for his contribution to the nation’s energy development.

The New Life Ministries Centre was established in 1986 and conducts a two year programme for persons addicted to drugs, alcohol, nicotine, and other mind/ mood altering chemicals and substances. The three sponsors partnered for this project in an effort to address a national issue of addiction that has been affecting many people in our society. It is hoped that the improved facilities will facilitate the rehabilitation process of clients and prepare them for reintegration into the community.

This project was one of PPGPL’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives- Gift to the Nation 2007.
