PPGPL gives Habitat for Humanity largest donation

On July 25, 2006 Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited presented its 2005/2006 Gift the Nation-HOMES (Housing Our Most Exposed Siblings). This US250, 000 cash donation was handed over to Habitat for Humanity to provide affordable housing for needy families in Dow Village, California, Cali Bay, Claxton Bay and Couva. Dianne Wells, coordinator for HFHTT emphasised the significance of this gift indicating that it was the largest corporate donation made to the organization in Trinidad and Tobago.

Since 1997, Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited has tied safety excellence by employees to a major national project. The company's safety record is determined by no lost time incident in a calendar year. Each year that the company achieves this milestone, a gift is given to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Gifts over the past seven years were intended for the national good and represented contributions to health, education, safety, the environment and the socially disadvantaged.

The 2005/2006 Gift to the Nation, H.O.M.E.S was given in recognition of the company’s 13 year safety record. PPGPL chose Habitat for Humanity as the recipient of this gift because of the organization’s track record of managing housing projects in various countries that meet the needs of families who otherwise would not be able to satisfy their housing needs. Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited will provide funding and “sweat equity” for the construction of houses for qualified applicants in its fence line community thereby creating safe havens in which productive citizens can emerge.  Through this effort we will be able to provide approximately 30 houses to individuals and families.
