PHOENIX GAS WINS INTERNATIONAL STEVIE® AWARD FOR GIVING

In recognition of its efforts in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL) has won the 2006 International Stevie Award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program in South America. The winning submission described the HOMES (Housing Our Most Exposed Siblings) project launched in 2006 is Phoenix Gas’s commitment to low income families in Trinidad and Tobago.

Phoenix Park Gas Processors is very committed to safety. PPGPL has tied the safety performance by employees and contractors to a national gift. PPGPL makes a ‘Gift to the Nation’ for each year that employees and contractors complete without there being a lost time case/incident.

To commemorate its 13year safety record and its 15th anniversary of production PPGPL presented a special Gift to the Nation valued at TT $1.57Million. The HOMES project is a partnership with Habitat for Humanity T&T.  PPGPL is providing funding and sweat equity to construct houses for needy families in the company’s fence line communities.

The project was developed to address the poor living conditions of low income families who do not meet the income threshold for other housing. The Project enables them to access decent, affordable housing. The housing is not free, so the initiative provides a ‘hand up’ and not a ‘hand out’.

Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited is a joint venture Company engaged in natural gas processing, the aggregation and marketing of natural gas liquids. The company recently celebrated 16years of production, during which it completed 4 major expansions, won 8 international safety awards, obtained superior credit rating from the financial sector and maintained 14 years without a lost time incident.

The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in business. Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala dinner in September in Munich, Germany sponsored by the German State of Bavaria.

Recipients were selected from more than 1,000 nominations received from companies and individuals in more than 30 countries. Companies from all over the world are eligible to compete in The International Business Awards, and can enter in any of more than 40 categories from Best Multinational Company and Best New Product to Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Executive.
